New procedure for the allocation of server certificates since 01.01.2023
The DFN-Verein announced some time ago that the administration of certificates will change from 2023. TCS (Trusted Certificate Service) will in future be a PKI offering that the DFN-Verein will obtain via GÉANT. GÉANT implements the service with the help of external providers who are found through regular tenders. The current provider is Sectigo. Overview of the service at GÉANT: https://security.geant.org/trusted-certificate-services/
DFN-Verein is currently introducing the service for all DFN-PKI participants. TCS will replace the previous DFN-PKI "Global" in the medium term. User certificates will still be applied for at the DFN until mid-2023 as before, but server certificates can only be applied for via Sectigo since 01.01.2023, see Instruction Server Certificates Anleitung Server-Zertifikate.
Termination of the long-standing service "Omnibus" for personal websites as of 30.06.2023
Since the end of the 1990s, the "Omnibus" service has been a web space linked to the data storage of the university account, in which publicly accessible data could be stored and made available as a "personal website". However, the service has been in decline for many years. A few years ago, the service was on the verge of being shut down. In the meantime, however, the number of active users has become so small that we have decided to finally discontinue the service on 30 June 2023.
All users who still have data in their personal area are currently being contacted by email and informed about the shutdown and possible alternatives.
