Zoom licenses will be extended

The current Zoom licenses expire on 25.04.2021. Current developments in the pandemic show that teaching will probably have to continue to take place on a large scale using digital tools in the coming summer semester of 2021. Due to this, Zoom licenses will once again be procured centrally, since on the one hand the university will be able to benefit from a high discount rate due to the collected order and the costs per license can thus be minimized, and on the other hand the uniform standard offers more security and data protection.

The rectorate has decided in the meeting of Feb 24, 2021 the central procurement by the Uni IT Services. The costs, which were covered by state funds for the first license period, must now be borne by the university. According to the rectorate's decision, they will be distributed proportionally among the faculties, the central institutions and the university administration according to full-time equivalents (FTE).

We will make every effort to ensure that existing licenses and associated accounts do not have to be recreated, but can be seamlessly carried over into the new license period (which will again be one year). Unfortunately, it is not yet clear whether this will be possible, as it will depend on how new users are able to register....

We are working on offering the transition without interruption.

New information on the status will be announced here and on our website on Zoom as well as on the videoconferencing systems.
