Changes to the Communications Platform

In the last couple years we have developed new platforms that allow for modern forms of communication. Old services such as chatting and fora servers will be installed in July.

Whether for communication among research groups, didactic support or documentation, modern web-based communication is fundamental to today's Universities. The University IT Services has been supporting various communication tools for years, but the rapid development of internet requires simultaneous changes in communication possibilities. Therefore we have updated some services with more modern variations.

In July we will be discontinuing: old fora servers (online discussion fora), the text-based chat servers (for synchronized meetings, www.chat.uni-freiburg.de) and old wiki servers (http://portal.uni-freiburg.de/wiki).
