Setting up bwSFS (Storage-for-Science) begins in the Uni IT Services Building
In the meantime three racks have been filled with the storage components of the bwSFS system. The power and network cabling will be done in further steps. Parallel to this, the definition of the various user roles and interfaces on the system for offering customized storage and RDM services will be carried out.
The system currently occupies slightly more than two data cabinets in the MS II of the Uni IT Services Building
In addition to the setup in KG II / MS III, the primary component for the Freiburg site was installed (the failure site of the storage for active data is located in KG II; long-term data is efficiently georedundantly distributed across the four sites in Tübingen and Freiburg). These are NetApp filers and object storage systems.
The system is operated and managed by the eScience department in close coordination with the colleagues at RDMG and in Tübingen. The implementation took place in close coordination with the operating and network group of the data center.
