New functions in ILIAS - overview
The new version of ILIAS now appears in Freiburg University's corporate design. This version also features new functions and improvements, which we will briefly introduce below.
Course organization:
- The display mode for learning oriented courses allows to define learning goals and allocate material such as self-tests.
- In the literature list, an automatic search in the university library's catalogue is carried out. Booking through the library is now possible without logging in anew.
- There is now the option of requesting participation for setting. Participation is granted only if confirmed by the course administrator. Students will subsequently receive a confirmation e-mail.
- A booking pool allows allocating topics for presentations. A maximum of users per booking can be determined in advance.
- The new mediacast allows structuring videos, audio-, and image-data. Those can directly be played online or offered as downloads. An RSS-Feed allows participants to keep up to date about newly added items.
Collaboration and learning in groups
- When creating a course, you can now choose between a standard course and a collaborative course. The latter grants students more rights. They can, for instance, add data, folders, wikis, forums, learning modules, etc. They can themselves delete those objects that they have created.
- The wiki offers statistical data on the whole wiki or on individual pages. Template pages can also be added.
- The forum now allows to rate topics.
Tests and exercises
- Exercises can be carried out in teams across several exercises. Previously a new team had to be formed.
- The function for peer feedback can now be used either personalized or anonymously. It is now also possible to enter a file as peer feedback.
- For tests, the tab for settings has been simplified, and there is also a new multiple-choice question type with four options (correct / incorrect).
ILIAS learning modules
The learning module can be set to allow moving to the next page only after al previous questions have been correctly answered. The course administrator can request an email when a participant has not answered a question and therefore cannot advance in the module. The module also saves the state of progress.
ILIAs page editor
- The keys "Pos1" and "Ende" now function in the ILIAS page editor.
- The design element "Blcok" is now available in different colors of the University of Freiburg
