Home office and private IT devices

In the 1/2019 newsletter we warned about the risks of using private IT end devices for work and, therefore, home office. By using a device provided by the IT administrator, this risks can be avoided.

Due to the current corona crisis, it can be tricky to get a laptop or PC. That is why we receive a lot of inquiries regarding the possibility of using private devices temporarily.

If the private IT end device fulfils certain standard requirements, the risk is neglectable. This information can be used as a parameter. This should also be documented accordingly, for example with this statement.

There are separate, more strict rules for the central university administration. These can be found in a IT security guidelines.
