Wikis are a "hyper-collaborative" tool for generating and making public knowledge and information. Thus, they are a useful tool for the teaching environment. All (entitled) users can create, change,  and comment on texts. Wikis are easy to use and practicable for the internet as well as for local networks. They are useful for, e.g.  seminar work, projects, lectures, internal documentation.

The lecture will concentrate on active use of wikis in the e-learning environment of Freiburg University. It will address the technical realization of the wiki server and then focus on the concrete examples from the field of art history (Prof. Schreurs-Moret) as well as English language courses (Ms. Nagel and Mr. Woodfin). The University IT Services wiki will be presented as a university wide documentation and support platform as a "best practice" example. Finally, the lecture will address general usage scenarios in the university and administration context as well as point out factors essential to a successful use of wikis.

The lecture will take place on Friday, June 15 at 2 p.m. on the online meeting server of Freiburg University. The lecture will be available via the following link:
