Home office and private IT devices

Our newsletter 1/2019 pointed out the risks of using private IT devices for your work and therefore also of working from home. By providing a device, set up by an IT administrator, these risks can be eliminated.

In the current corona crisis, laptops and PCs can be hard to obtain as suppliers run out of stock. Therefore, the question arises whether, under certain circumstances, private devices can be used temporarily after all.

From an IT point of view, the risk seems acceptable, if the private device meets certain requirements. Suitability can be assessed using these explanations. This should then also be documented, e.g. using this declaration

For the University’s central administration stricter rules apply, which have been defined as part of an IT security guideline.
