bwCloud (FR and others): Partial malfunction in the CEPH backend of bwCloud

Currently there is a persistent disruption on the CEPH storage backend of bwCloud in the Freiburg region, among others, which is noticeable for some users and certain volumes. These are only very slow or no longer accessible. The problem is being monitored and the cause is still being researched. One option is to disable the cache.

Currently, there is an ongoing CEPH issue in the state service bwCloud of the Freiburg region (the other bwCloud sites are similarly affected - a joint troubleshooting is ongoing).

To eliminate a possible source of error, a cache shutdown was initiated. It will take some time to completely clear the cache. In parallel, plans are being made for the commissioning of the NetApp AFF-A400, which will replace parts of the currently used CEPH as a new full-flash backend and allow reconfiguration of the latter. However, this work requires a certain amount of time and will still take the next few weeks.

. EDIT: The flashing of the volume cache to the cold storage is progressing quite well. 90% of the data has now been transferred accordingly.

If you have problems with one of your volumes, we can try to find an individual solution in the meantime. As usual, the bwCloud ticket system is available for any queries regarding this.
