Persistent: bwSync - recurring faults / performance problems NextCloud

Currently, bwSync & Share, which is based on NextCloud, is repeatedly experiencing partial failures or very slow response. This is related to an increasing number of users and the associated performance drops in the user database. A solution is underway.

According to the operator KIT, the number of simultaneous users on NextCloud has increased from 1020 to more than 3000 in the last few weeks. The Nextcloud database probably collapses considerably or completely counting these 3000 users and more. The attempt to increase performance by means of hardware did not bring any improvement, as this has already been tried. Other "obvious" approaches have also been deployed.

In the meantime, KIT has hired external programmers to go through the source code with Nextcloud. The problem has been understood (massive performance problems of the database), the solution is currently unknown and an estimate is not yet available. The missing user notification (cause unknown) was also noted.

Update In between a problem solution was reported by KIT, Karlsruhe (7.12.), however interaction is currently impossible again. A new message about this was sent internally.

The second half of the day seems to have brought the service back and it is running again ...
