File server/central storage system: NFS disruption: The are currently issues with the NFS service on our central file server (central storage system) since the switch to the new operating system version on January 11, 2019.

Current Windows 7 Update is impeding activation through KMS: A new Windows 7 system security update from January 8, 2019 can impede an activation through KMS.
09.01.2018: Old BSCW server offline: As previously planned, the University IT Services took the "bscw server" off the grid at the end of 2018. It had been in operation since 2004. Since 2017, the alternative "group server" ("Arbeitsgruppenserver"), which also runs on the basis of the BSCW system, is available.

bwLehrpool disruption due to router and data server maintenance: Since tomorrow, 20.12.2018, from 8:00 to 8:15 the central IT Services router will be converted, and additionally the file server will be updated from 8:00, disruptions to the bwLehrpool system should be expected.
20.12.2018, from 8:00 to approximately 8:15 - central IT Services router conversion: On 20.12.2018, starting at 8 a.m., the central IT Services router will be converted. This will lead to all connections that run through this router being interrupted. The external connections of the university will also be affected. The interruptions will last approximately 15 minutes.
Update: File server/central storage system: maintenance completed at approx. 3.30 p.m.; original message: File server/central storage system: Firmware update on 20.12.18 and interference of various services: Update: All nodes have been successfully updated. The maintenance works were completed at approx. 3.30 p.m. and no further interruptions are expected.
18.12.18 - 19.12.18: Partial bwClud downtime (Freiburg): Due to hardware maintenance work, which includes a significant expansion of the main memory in the cloud nodes, all Intel nodes of the bwCloud and de.NBI cloud will not be available from December 18 to 19. VMs running on those will be shut down temporarily.

The RDMG of Freiburg will be presenting at the World Digital Preservation Day: The Freiburg Research Data Management Group will be represented at the "Conference for the preservation of digital culutral heritage" at the national library in Frankfurt/Main. This event is one of the activities of the "World Digital Preservation Day" on November 29, 2018.
Fake invoices from the University IT Services or other University institutions: Since this week there is an increasing number of fake invoices being sent by which use fake addresses from the University IT Services. These emails should be deleted immediately and attachments should neither be clicked nor opened.

bwLehrpool as E-Assessment Platform at LERU Conference: The bwLehrpool system as an open PC pool and E-Assessment platform was presented at the LERU "Blended Conference November 2018 - Digital Higher Education Science" with two webinars as a joint-activity of the E-Learning and E-Science departments of the University IT Services.
November 22, 2018, 9.30 a.m.: Mail server maintenance: Mail server maintenance, including update to server software and CommuniGate version.
Maintenance of the printing account recharge: Today at 2 p.m., the server for the printing account recharge will be unavailable for two hours.
bwLehrpool failure resolved: This morning, there was a total failure of the bwLehrpool system, which was resolved at 10:17 a.m. The trigger was a rogue service that repeatedly created gigabytes worth of logs and then disappeared. We have solved the problem and are taking measures to ensure that such mistakes to not occur in the future.
