Thanks to funding from the student proposal budget, 20 network licenses of f4 Transcript & Analysis for Windows, Mac OS & Linux have been purchased. Students of the University of Freiburg can borrow the licenses free of charge.
What is f4 Transkript and what is f4 Analyse?
Short description from the developer:
"f4transcript supports you in typing your audio and video files by yourself."
"f4analysis (Windows/Mac/Linux) helps you analyze your text files, write memos, code texts and search citations."
What is the difference to MAXQDA?
There is one advantage over MAXQDA for Linux users: unlike MAXQDA, f4 can also be used on Linux.
Apart from that, the developer writes: "As a " slim " program, f4analysis focuses on the central functions of qualitative research. This makes it easier for beginners to get started with computer-assisted qualitative analysis. The manual is manageable with 15 pages [...] Up to a quantity of 100 texts and 1000 codes can be worked well with it."
